Mehdi FARAJPOUR
is a conceptual performing Artist with an educational background in Theatre. His artistic career covers different fields of Art such as Dance, Theatre, Butoh, Video, Sound, photography, Literature & Poetry.
Beside his creations for professional stage, he is seriously focused on teaching his dance method titled “Meditative dance”. Then it is easily possible to divide his activities in two major parts: on one hand Creation and one the other hand education.
His book entitled The Monk performers, proposes a method about presence and the power of concentration of performers on the stage. The method is the conclusion of Mehdi`s personal & practical experience on the stage.
Short after founding “Oriantheatre” as an independent company, he could promote it on the international stages.
Most of the performances created by Mehdi stand on the border of theatre, dance and visual Arts.
Since few years ago, he has been regularly collaborating with international dance-theatre companies, festivals as well as individuals from all around the world.
In 2008, Collaboration with Bharatanatyam dancers in India could bring him the best prize for modern choreography and creative music from 26th International theatre festival of Iran. End of 2008 he was awarded by “Hooyong performing Arts center” for three month Artist in residence program in South Korea.
In 2009, he received a grant titled Orient and Europe for creating a performance in Poland.
2010, He became a member of jury of international theatre festival in Minsk, Belarus.
In 2011, He has got The best direction prize for directing the performance BECKETT from 24th international theatre festival Lomza, Poland.
The countries where he has been mostly presented by his performance and workshops are India, Poland, Iran, South Korea, France, Turkey, Spain, Germany, Croatia, Sweden, Belarus, Finland.
