

Born in 1980, Iran.
After learning pantomime from Mr. Sirus Shamlu, he started to evolve theatre professionally and seriously. Then he took some courses in modern and contemporary dance techniques under supervision of Mrs. R. Pope and Mrs. S. Reynolds. Being previously familiar with yoga, he took Hathayoga instructor’s course under supervision of celebrated Iranian & Indian Hatha yoga masters. He also used instructions of master Maya Machoveh in his university thesis. Later, he got familiar with Mrs. Parvin Hadiniya- the Swiss ballerina of Iranian origin- and collaborated with her to hold a combined workshop of “Relationships between Hatha yoga and contemporary dance” in Tehran, the outcomes of this experience were collected in an interview.
In 2002, he established an international freelance performing arts group called “Oriantheatre_performing art`s group” which aims to study and research on concentrative forms (spiritually and physically) for performers. For the beginning of this investigation, a dance-theatre called “Auschwitz" became the project basis. Membership requirement of this group consists of knowledge about three subjects of theatre, dance (in the true meaning) and Hathayoga, although not in trite definitions.
Mehdi`s main activities consists a variety of fields like yoga training, directing, acting, choreographing and dancing. He constantly and continuously taught his physical performance methods in some acting educational schools since 2003. Examples for that consist “Acting high education school” and “Independent acting institute” are two of the most important schools in acting education in Iran, which Mehdi works with them while he stay in Tehran. Also, he taught body units 1 and 2 in theatre department of “Islamic Azad University” of Tehran for a period of time. Since then, he has been teaching subject of physical concentration, non-movement, and body understanding, together with Mr. Atila Pesyani in City theatre workshop to the participants.
After that, Mehdi founded “Experimental Workshop of Performance” in 2005 which aimed to be as a practical artworks institute for youth artists. He constituted some workshops and short courses in yoga and concentrative body for performers, and then he designed two performance art projects called “Iranian Myths” and “Mashrouteh Revolution” with the students of the “Experimental workshop of performance” in 2006.
One of his dance-theatre projects called – Suddalaiyadi – got an invitation from “IInd international theatre and dance festival, India” on Jan 2007. He went to India with Iranian members of “Oriantheatre” and performed at the festival. The mentioned performance became successful between Indian people and artistic committee of the festival.
After that, he was invited to collaboration at a dance project from “Sevendoors Dance Company” located in UK in order to perform at “Middle-east theatre festival” held in Edinburgh, March 2007. At the same period of time, he has been invited to join for cooperating in a film project as an actor to Scotland, Edinburgh in may 2007. Both of projects did not realize.
On June 2007 he went to Poland to perform a solo spectacle called “My name`s peace. I`m coming from Asia…” at the festival named “7th international street theatre festival”, Opole, Poland. Also, he conducted a workshop about “Concentrative body and yoga” during the event.
On October 2007, He went back to India in order to repertory performance “Suddalaiyadi” in the other part of India during “11st international theatre festival India” which was held in Cuttuck, Orrisa.
After coming back from Cuttuck, he led a workshop about “physical performance art” with some youth people in Tehran and then prepared it to perform as a result of the course. The name of the performance was “Burning Circle” based on some poems of Iranian unique poet “ Djelal aldin Rumi”.
One month later, Mehdi has left to live and work in India as a collaborator theatre director. He remade the ”Suddalaiyadi” with Indian members of “oriantheatre” which both were Indian traditional dancers. Then he took the performance for take part in a great international theatre festival in Tehran called ”26th Fadjr international theatre festival”. He got the prize of the best music & choreography award for the performance.
On April 2008, he went to Paris in order to refresh himself and participated at two Butoh educational courses leading by Mr. Katsura Kan, Japanese celebrated Butoh artist and Mrs. Yumi Fujitani. During the stay in france, he improvised a contemporary dance performance with katsura kan. After leaving Paris, conducting a workshop at 9th international blacksea theatre festival based in Turkey was next project of Mehdi. It was May 2008, Trabzon state of Turkey. Directing and choreographing a Video-dance project called “Yellow chair” in “Maharashtra culture centre” located in Pune, India was the other contribution of Mehdi in Indian artistic areas.
On June 2008, in order to perform a solo Butoh performance called “Confession” the 8th International street theatre festival located in Poland, hosted Mehdi. Also, at the same time he conducted a workshop with participants from Italy, Poland, Finland. “Immortal Iceland” Butoh project became the outcome of the workshop which is performed on the last day of the festival in Opole, Poland. After Mehdi left Poland for South Korea in order to take an artist in residency program for two months longtime for August and September 2008. During the residency he did a lecture about presentation of his own work style in his previous international artworks. Also, Mehdi has conducted a workshop about Butoh & concentrative body titled "The corpse of mine" with Korean professional performers and then he started directing a new solo dance-theatre called "Beckett" which based on one of Samuel Beckett`s celebrated play called “krapp`s last tape”.
