Director`s Notation

Since 2004, a play of “Samuel Beckett” called “Krapp`s last tape” has started circulation in my brain in order to find an appropriate way to present itself. But I have never been let me to start working on during these years. Because Beckett is a particular writer. He does not let directors to do what they like. You as a director have to follow the agenda which he had written down. So, maybe you can imagine how is difficult it for a choreographer.
After I recognized contemporary dance and then Butoh in particular, I thought the best structure and a good way to make a transformation from Beckett`s plays into movement language, is just Butoh. But I must be careful. Because I am still trying on it and I am not sure yet. “Hooyong performing arts center” was a suitable opportunity to experience it. I started to challenge with Krapp during there. He is an elderly man but very strong. I still hope I will win the match and you will enjoy of my performance…
